Boatdate: 30062020
Location: Garstang to Billsborrow
Heading: South to Ribble Link

Ever southbound. CRT have brought forward our Ribble crossing by a day from the 8th to the 7th July on account of works they want to undertake on the Tarleton lock gates taking advantage of favorable tides to complete the works. Probably means there will be above the maximum number of boats crossing that day. The Link will be shut down for a week. So not long to go. We will all have to be on board by the Sunday night of the 5th so we can complete the journey to the top lock on Monday 6th.

Continuing southbound to the link in stages, this time to Garstang where we moored near the services having bunkered up with water.

Weather: Scorchio

Sailed down to Potters Brook from Galgate. Saw lots of terns diving today, very elegant birds. Joy cycled out from Lancaster for a visit.

Noticed bridge 81 has had a hefty wallop, from a passing truck I am told.

Don' suppose Abe (who watches over the canal just north of the bridge) was best pleased.

Touching up the paintwork with International Toplac. A lot of masking tape is going to be needed when it comes to repainting those tram lines. The water level in the canal has dropped a couple of inches in the last week or so. I wonder if there is a shortage of supply from the feeders at the moment. Normally Killington reservoir feeds about 77,000 cubic metres of water into the canal every day but I bet it's a lot less than that just now.

This duck will get a ticket before long but he was overseeing some engine alignment corrections and the inspection of engine mounts and packing gland. While doing this a strange lady walked by and held out a tatty wicker basket to me offering it as an exchange for the loan of my bike. She said it would be useful for holding seedlings, or something. I rather suspect it would've been a permanent exchange deal had I taken up her bountiful generosity.
